This is some yellow and silver double stamping for the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas group. The colour prompt is yellow and silver, and my personal theme is pattern on pattern.
I only very rarely wear yellow on my nails. I know lots of people really dislike it. I don’t, but it’s not something I often reach for. However, this is the second yellow manicure I’ve worn in a row. I didn’t have any choice with today’s nails, but I definitely selected yellow last time. Maybe it’s something to do with the sunshine!
Stamping seemed to be the obvious way of getting two patterns on my nails. I stamped twice, albeit I used the same pattern both times. It’s still pattern on pattern though, eh?
The base is Sinful Colors Unicorn. Yellows are notoriously streaky and difficult to get nicely opaque. This one was no exception and took four coats. It’s a delicate pale yellow colour. Creamy and soft though; not lemony and sharp. I have no idea why it’s called Unicorn. Surely unicorns are white – or rainbow-coloured?
The stamping pattern is a geometric lined image from ÜberChic Beauty 9-03. I’ve seen it used for double stamping quite a bit, and it’s because it’s a great image for it. It’s such a versatile image in that it can be used over and over, just with different colour combinations.
I liked this when I’d just put the silver stamping on top of the pale yellow. After I had added the darker yellow, I thought it ruined it somewhat. I think a way around that would be to have placed the darker yellow stamping first, and then the silver, as that would have allowed the silver to show up better.
